When the voltage at the generator outlet drops or fails, in order to keep the voltage at the generator terminal at a certain voltage level and maintain the stability of the power system, the generator exciter is forced to excite. The forced excitation function is to increase the voltage at the generator terminal.
Forced excitation is realized by increasing the excitation voltage and current of the exciter and increasing the excitation magnification. Under normal operation, the excitation voltage will not be so large, and the excitation current and voltage will only be increased in case of fault, so it is called forced excitation.
Function of generator forced excitation
1. Increase the stability of the power system.
2. After the short circuit is removed, the voltage can be restored quickly.
3. Improve the reliability of overcurrent protection action with time limit.
4. Improve the self-starting condition of the motor in case of system accident.
Precautions for forced excitation of generator
1. The protective cover of the control panel on the excitation control cabinet door of the generator excitation system is opened to strengthen the ventilation and heat dissipation effect.
2. The rear window of the generator excitation system cabinet is opened to enhance the heat dissipation effect, and closed when it rains.
3. A temporary cooling fan shall be installed at the generator excitation system cabinet.
4. The excitation control cabinet of the generator excitation system shall be equipped with a hard isolation fence to prevent irrelevant personnel from entering.
5. Urge the first power maintenance personnel to clean the ventilation screen on each cabinet door of the generator excitation system every day.
6. When the ambient temperature reaches 40 ℃ or above, the operator shall strengthen the monitoring of the temperature in the excitation control cabinet of the generator excitation system. When the temperature in the control cabinet reaches 60 ℃, the operator shall notify the electrical maintenance, open the excitation control cabinet door to strengthen ventilation and heat dissipation, and continue to install temporary cooling fans to increase the heat dissipation effect.
7. When the temperature in the excitation control cabinet of the generator excitation system reaches 60 ℃, if the above measures cannot effectively reduce the temperature, you can apply for dispatching to exit AVC, reduce the reactive power of the generator, and properly reduce the active load until the temperature is effectively controlled.
