Operating procedures of excitation regulator
1. System introduction:
This set of device is a UNITROL5000 excitation regulator produced by ABB, which is static excitation. The whole system includes excitation transformer, AVR regulator, silicon controlled rectifier cabinet and excitation switch.
1.1 Excitation transformer: composed of three single-phase transformers, Y/ Δ-  1 wiring, capacity 3 X 2000 KVA. It is equipped with temperature protection device to send out alarm signals.
1.2 AVR regulator: It has two sets of regulators with the same function, each set has three channels, which are automatic channel, manual channel and EGC emergency channel. In addition, LCP control panel, maintenance panel, switch and relay are also provided in this cabinet.
1.2.1 Logic relation: when the A automatic channel fails, switch to the B automatic channel; If this channel fails again, first judge whether channel A is in good condition. If it is in good condition, switch to channel A, and if not, switch to manual channel B; When the B channel fails, it switches to the manual channel of A channel. If the switch fails, it switches to the EGC channel of B channel.
1.2.2 LCP control panel is used for local operation of UNITROL5000 system and display important process signals and fault signals. It has 16 keys with LED for special display and control of the system; The 10 control keys are used for operation mode, built-in functions and LCD. The LCD is displayed in 8 lines with 40 characters each.
Requirements for excitation system
(1) The excitation system shall have high reliability and stability, and shall not be affected by the external power grid.
(2) The excitation current is automatically adjusted according to the load of the main engine to keep the terminal voltage of the generator at the rated voltage and output certain reactive power.
(3) The reaction speed should be fast, that is, it should have good dynamic characteristics.
(4) When the generator suddenly has no load, force demagnetization of the main engine.
(5) When the grid voltage suddenly decreases due to faults, the main machine shall be forced to excite to maintain the grid voltage at a high level.
(6) In case of internal fault of the generator, the field shall be de energized quickly to minimize the fault range.
Main functions of excitation requirements
1. Maintain the generator terminal voltage at the given value. When the generator load changes, the generator terminal voltage is stabilized by adjusting the strength of the magnetic field.
2. Reasonably allocate the reactive power distribution among parallel operating units.
3. Improve the stability of power system, including static stability, transient stability and dynamic stability.
