Generator excitation system is a general term for power supply and its auxiliary equipment that supply excitation current of synchronous generator. It generally consists of two main parts: excitation power unit and excitation regulator. Generator excitation system includes DC exciter, non exciter, AC exciter, etc. In recent ten years, due to the emergence and use of new technologies, new processes and new devices, the excitation mode of generators has been continuously developed and improved. In terms of automatic regulating excitation devices, many new types of regulating devices have also been continuously developed and popularized.
Operating principle of excitation system
Excitation device refers to the electrical control device in the excitation system of synchronous generator that can control and regulate the excitation current except for the excitation power supply.
Excitation system is an indispensable part of power plant equipment. The excitation system includes excitation power supply and excitation device, wherein the main body of excitation power supply is exciter or excitation transformer; The excitation device is composed of regulating panel, control panel, de excitation panel and rectifier panel according to different specifications, models and use requirements.
The excitation device is used to maintain the terminal voltage of the synchronous generator at a given level when the power system is working normally. At the same time, it also has the functions of forced excitation increase, de excitation and de excitation. For those using excitation transformer as excitation power supply, it also has rectification function. The excitation device can be provided separately or as a complete set of power generation equipment. The export product quality license system has been implemented for small and medium-sized water power generation equipment, and products without export quality license are not allowed to be exported.
Operating principle of excitation system
1、 Operating principle of excitation system
The synchronous generator is the main equipment of the power system. It is a device that converts rotating mechanical power into electromagnetic power. To complete this conversion, it needs a DC magnetic field itself. The DC current that generates this magnetic field is called the excitation current of the synchronous generator. The relevant equipment specially providing excitation current for synchronous generator, namely, the equipment related to the establishment, adjustment and disappearance of excitation voltage, is collectively referred to as excitation system. The excitation system of synchronous generator is composed of excitation regulator AER and excitation power system. The excitation power system provides DC excitation current to the synchronous generator rotor excitation winding. The regulator controls the output of excitation power system according to the change of generator terminal voltage, so as to achieve the purpose of regulating excitation current.
According to the definition specified in the national standard GB/T7409.1-2008 “Excitation System of Synchronous Motor”, the excitation system of synchronous motor is “a device that provides field current of synchronous motor, including all regulating and control elements, excitation power units, field overvoltage suppression and de excitation devices and other protective devices.”
