Application of ABB AC800F control platform in 1 million t/a coking project
1. Introduction
A liability company in Qinghai invested in a new 1 million t/a coking project. Due to its location on the plateau, ABB AC800F system, which is widely used in the company, has been selected to improve the productivity and ensure the continuous safe and stable operation of the system. ABB AC800F dcs system is a control platform based on industrial IT. It has a high level of industrial automation, adopts open integrated controllers, the latest technology and standards, and has the characteristics of information aggregation, high engineering efficiency, advanced scalable solutions, open communications, plug and play. At the same time, it has an open integrated controller and a global data management system. It is a world leading automatic control system integrating the advantages of dcs and PLC.

3. Features of AC800F controller
AC800F controller is a world leading automatic control system launched by ABB, which integrates the advantages of dcs and PLC, and supports a variety of international field bus standards. It not only has the complex analog loop adjustment ability of dcs, friendly human-machine interface (HMI) and convenient engineering software, but also has the high speed logic and sequence control performance equivalent to the high-end PLC indicators. The system can connect not only conventional I/O, but also Profibus, FF, CANModbus and other field bus devices. The system has a high degree of flexibility and excellent scalability. It can handle the control of small production devices, the integrated control of the whole plant in a very large scale, and even the application of cross plant management control. After the system is upgraded to V7.1 or above, the system capacity can reach an infinite number of points (more than 1 million I/Os). If the system needs to be expanded in the future, I/O or field bus instruments can be directly added on this basis to facilitate future development. AC800F system upgrades ABB control system from traditional process automation control concept to plant production management system based on plant wide informatization. Its purpose is to provide users at all levels with the most accurate and detailed information they need at the most appropriate time and from the most appropriate angle, so that they can run the plant production efficiently. The system can be divided into operation management level and process control level. The operation management level includes the operation station OS, engineer station ES, and gateway GS.
On the operation management level, it can not only realize the traditional control system monitoring operation functions (predefined and free format dynamic screen display, trend display, pop-up alarm and operation guidance information, report printing, hardware diagnosis, etc.), but also complete the management functions such as formula management and data exchange. The process control level can be composed of one or several process stations, and each station includes AC800F and expansion I/O S800 units.
The CPU and I/O unit of the process station can be configured as redundant or non redundant systems. The system has various I/O modules that can be connected to various process signals on site.
Compared with other distributed control systems, combined with the development history of AC800F control system, we summarized the new technologies of the system as follows:
(1) Open Fieldbus Technology
Although the field bus type field instrument is not used in this project for the time being, in order to facilitate the future development of users, we have reserved the bus hardware interface. In terms of software, the Profibus template of ABB AC800F controller supports DPV1. Compared with the pure DP standard module, the standard module has increased the ability to configure the instrument. In this way, it does not need to install special configuration software for various instruments. Only importing the equipment parameter file (GSD file) of each instrument can realize the function of parameter programming and configuration for all PA standard instruments under the unified system programming software. This function effectively saves software costs and improves the efficiency of engineering configuration.
(2) Open control functions
The system controller adopts RISC processor chip, and the program adopts task running mode. Each task can set the running cycle and running priority. Therefore, it can not only meet the control requirements of complex regulating circuits (generally, the control cycle is long), but also meet the requirements of fast electrical switching value control, so that one controller can cover the control requirements of all links in the plant. A large number of user-defined control function blocks are reserved during programming. Users can add or subtract functions according to the needs of future production. The application of IEC61131-3 programming standard makes users familiar with the system programming as long as they have some basic knowledge.
(3) System Global Database Technology
The core technology of the system”s global database is “decentralized storage and global management”. The system programming software only generates a project file for the project. Although each controller has opened a certain space as the data variable storage area, the system programming software is only a global system variable table. The data exchange between the operator station and the process station does not require database conversion programming to direct access. The modification and inspection of variables are also global to the system. The configuration of the system process station and the operator station is a set of software. The installation, commissioning and start-up of the automatic control part of the whole project only took two or three weeks, which is a very important factor.
(4) Open TCP/IP protocol
Ethernet technology is used in operator station, engineer station and process TCP/IP protocol Ethernet module, so that the system can be connected to the factory LAN without adding equipment. Since the system supports standard DDE and OPC data exchange standards, data exchange between the system and various third-party databases or software will be easier.
(5) The system is easy to expand
There is no resource limitation for the system software. If the user needs technical transformation in the future, control points and process stations will be added, and the engineer station software will not need to be purchased again. During programming, only a few resources will be added under the project tree of the original project file, which facilitates the user”s future system expansion and long-term development.
(6) Chinese interface
The system menu, operation panel, system character table and system prompt information are all in Chinese.
