Excitation system principle
Excitation device refers to the electrical control device that can control and regulate the excitation current in the excitation system of synchronous generator, except for the excitation power supply. Excitation system is an indispensable part of power station equipment. The excitation system includes excitation power supply and excitation device, wherein the main body of excitation power supply is exciter or excitation transformer; The excitation device is composed of regulating panel, control panel, deexcitation panel and rectifier panel according to different specifications, models and use requirements.
The use of excitation device is to maintain the terminal voltage of synchronous generator at a given level when the power system is working normally. At the same time, it also has the functions of forced excitation increase, excitation reduction and deexcitation. Rectification function is also available for those using excitation transformer as excitation power supply. The excitation device can be provided separately or as a complete set of power generation equipment.
Composition of excitation system
Organic terminal voltage transformer, generator terminal current transformer and excitation transformer are the components of automatic excitation regulation; The excitation device needs to provide the following current: auxiliary AC380v and auxiliary DC220V control power supply. Excitation control, protection and signal circuit are composed of deexcitation switch, auxiliary circuit, fan, deexcitation switch tripping, excitation transformer overcurrent, regulator fault, generator abnormal condition, power transmitter, etc. In case of internal failure of the synchronous generator, in addition to the disconnection, it is also necessary to de-excitation, reduce the rotor magnetic field to the minimum as soon as possible, and shorten the de-excitation time as far as possible under the condition that the rotor cannot pass, which is the main function of the de-excitation device. According to the rated excitation voltage, it can be divided into linear resistance deexcitation and nonlinear resistance deexcitation.
Three ways for generator to obtain excitation current
1. Excitation mode of DC generator power supply
The generator with this excitation mode has a special DC generator. This special DC generator is called a DC exciter. The exciter is generally coaxial with the generator. The excitation winding of the generator obtains DC current from the exciter through the slip ring and fixed brush installed on the main shaft. This excitation mode has the advantages of independent excitation current, reliable operation and reduced consumption of self-use electricity. It is the main excitation mode of generator in the past few decades and has relatively mature operating experience. The disadvantage is that the excitation regulation speed is slow and the maintenance workload is large, so it is rarely used in units above 10MW.
2. Excitation mode of AC exciter power supply
Some generation of large-capacity generators use AC exciter to provide excitation current. The AC exciter is also installed on the main shaft of the generator, and its output AC current is supplied to the generator rotor for excitation after rectification. At this time, the excitation mode of the generator belongs to the separate excitation mode. Because the static rectifier device is used, it is also called the separate excitation static excitation, and the AC auxiliary exciter provides the excitation current. The AC auxiliary exciter can be a permanent magnet machine or an alternator with self-excited constant voltage device. In order to improve the excitation regulation speed, AC exciter usually uses 100-200HZ intermediate frequency generator, while AC auxiliary exciter uses 400-500HZ intermediate frequency generator. The DC excitation winding and three-phase AC winding of the generator are all wound in the stator slot. The rotor has only teeth and slots, but no winding. It is like a gear. Therefore, it has no rotating contact parts such as brushes and slip rings. It has the advantages of reliable operation, simple structure and convenient manufacturing process. The disadvantage is that the noise is large, and the harmonic component of the AC potential is also large.
3. Excitation mode without exciter
In the excitation mode, no special exciter is set, but the excitation power is obtained from the generator itself, and then supplied to the generator itself for excitation after rectification, which is called self-excited static excitation. Self-excited static excitation can be divided into self-shunt excitation and self-compound excitation. The self-shunt excitation mode obtains the excitation current through the rectifier transformer connected to the generator outlet and supplies the generator excitation after rectification. This excitation mode has the advantages of simple structure, less equipment, less investment and less maintenance workload. In addition to no rectification and voltage transformation, the self-recovery excitation mode is also equipped with high-power current transformers connected in series in the generator stator circuit. The function of this transformer is to provide large excitation current to the generator in case of short circuit, so as to make up for the shortage of rectifier transformer output. This excitation mode has two excitation power sources: voltage power source obtained through rectifier transformer and current source obtained through series transformer.
