A globally leading FPSO vessel expert in the oil and gas industry has hired ARMS Reliability to help optimize the maintenance and construction of new FPSO capital projects in Mexico.
The client of ARMS is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, mobilization, installation, operation, and maintenance of FPSOs to be operated in Mexican waters.
Utilize its proprietary asset strategy management platform, OnePM ®  The ARMS team, the world’s largest component strategy library, began the project in January 2020 and completed it in three stages.
Phase 1: Successful Planning
In the first phase of FPSO capital project maintenance and construction, the ARMS team developed documents as the foundation plan for the entire FPSO maintenance plan. The maintenance document centered on reliability consists of two parts: reliability and integrity guidelines and supporting asset documents.
The reliability and integrity guidelines define standard practices for developing, executing, and continuously improving cost-effective asset management plans for the fleet. The purpose of this guideline is to ensure that FPSOs can meet the availability requirements of the enterprise without affecting safety or environmental performance. In addition, this guide ensures consistency in the operation of standards and methods throughout the region.

Phase 2: Improving efficiency
In the second phase of FPSO capital project maintenance and construction, the ARMS team began using ARMS proprietary OnePM ®  Guidelines for Software Implementation and Maintenance Philosophy. Based on the professional knowledge of the ARMS team, customer data, and input from the Original Equipment Manufacturer [OEM] manual, OnePM ®  Used for critical assessment, execution of maintenance strategy construction, and rapid deployment of maintenance strategies across the entire ship.
During the criticality assessment period, OnePM ®  Used to evaluate all 50K+assets using the criteria defined in the first stage, with each asset achieving a criticality level of 1-5. The level of criticality helps determine the most valuable maintenance strategy for each asset and provides visibility into the risks associated with each asset.
During the construction of maintenance strategies, similar assets are first grouped into device types based on the component maintenance failure mode and impact analysis [FMEA] template. Then fill in the template to include customer specific detailed information, OEM manual recommendations, and all relevant data specific to various device types.
After completing these templates, OnePM ®  Deploy device type policies to assets and create asset policy variants. These changes take into account asset details, such as critical levels, appropriate regulations, and operational assurance tasks.
Finally, the ARMS team simulated maintenance recommendations for all device types to optimize the asset model.
Stage 3: Preparing for Efficacy
In the third phase of FPSO capital project maintenance and construction, the ARMS team uses OnePM ®  Fill in the customer’s CMMS load table and main maintenance instructions [PMI] file, and develop labor, spare parts, and maintenance forecasts as well as spare parts optimization plans.
Using OnePM ®, The ARMS team integrated FPSO into OnePM ®  Set rules to quickly group all over 50K assets and their related tasks into inspection routes and planned maintenance. Then, OnePM ®  Automatically generate all load tables and PMI documents within a few minutes (which traditionally takes several months to complete), and enable customers to seamlessly upload Excel tables to CMMS. In addition, PMI files have also been improved, including updated formats, clearer task descriptions, and feedback sections to promote continuous improvement.
ARMS and customer teams also use OnePM ®  Prepare a budget forecast for the first 20 years of the FPSO vessel life cycle (tailored to the customer’s labor, spare parts, and maintenance situation), and provide a detailed description of the expected situation for each year for the next 20 years. The team also provided a spare parts optimization plan, outlining recommendations for inventory spare parts and related cost-effectiveness in the coming years.
